~HAPPY EASTER~

Jayden saved a milk jug for a school project on Friday and came home with an awesome "Bunny" Easter basket complete with big ears and googley eyes. It was so cute, I was really impressed. He was very proud of it and decided to take it to our community Easter Egg Hunt at the park the next day. The term "Hunt" here would be completely inaccurate, it was craziness! I had no idea so many people would show up. Our large community park was packed with people and we were all freezing. The field had been sectioned into age group quadrants and was covered in colored eggs. Parents and their kids crowded the edges waiting for the sound of the fire engine to start the "Hunt". Sven took Bailey to her age group to find her friends while J & I tried to find a spot on the edge to squeeze him in. I coached him on how the whole thing would start with all the kids rushing on to the field picking up as many Easter eggs as they could and that Mom & Dad would stay in the same spot and watch (no parents were allowed in the "egg zone"). He was ready to go! Rocking back and forth on his starting foot, waiting for the sound of the fire engine. The engine blared the kids where off, unfortunately so were their parents. Within seconds J was swarmed and couldn't see us and came running back screaming scared out of his wits, poor thing. Bawling I took him out onto the field where there was not one egg left! He had managed to get a grand total of 4 and after being hugged and consoled was pretty happy with the fact he managed to get 4 with all the crazy people there! Bailey of course made out like a bandit in her group and was happy all her friends were there. We headed back home for hot chocolate & the decorating of Easter eggs!

Sunday we talked about Jesus and why we celebrate Easter. We had our Easter breakfast of blueberry pancakes & our lovely colored eggs and set off to find the baskets! In less than 3 minutes they were found! Apparently the kids think the Easter bunny hid them in way to easy spots...oh yeah, we'll see about that next year!

We then decorated more eggs, well armored our eggs for our Egg Derby! Egg Derby: similar to demolition derby, last egg standing with its yolk in its shell wins! You can armor your egg with just about anything besides tape and other artificial shells. We had fun getting creative and making a huge mess.

Bailey and Sven got really into their armor while J and I kept it simple.

Winner of the first round: MOM yay! Second Round:Sven! Final Battle: Sven won with his well armored egg of love! YAY DAD!!!

We had a very fun weekend complete with many many naps for mom! Yay!
